Merel Vandevoorde about the collection:

“Sensory stimuli and atmospheres have a profound impact on our body.
In a state of overstimulation, my body finds itself in a state of disconnection. I float somewhere between dream and reality. I find myself in the void between skin and fabric. At night, a recurring abstract mathematical dream surfaces.

I manipulate and use the mathematical as a method to create patterns. I made a visualization of how environmental stimuli affect and harm me. How these stimuli set internal movement in motion and leave traces behind.”

Film:

The method we used to create this film is by making first, then writing. The visuals are initially created from intuition. The work environment was crucial in capturing the atmosphere within these visuals. It was only in the editing process that the script was written. By using this method, both the lost control and my grasp in the void, longing for control, are embedded.
